This Is Awesome

by admin on August 2, 2011

We couldn’t have put together a better hype video ourselves.  Kudos to “Hoke Saves Lives” from MGoBlog for creating this. You can find his blog here.  Go Denard!  Let’s Go Blue!  Getting fired up for the season and Denard’s shot at the 2011 Heisman.

We are slowly but surely moving toward football season.  At least the Tigers are making things interesting.  Michigan football can’t get here soon enough. Denard Preseason Top Player The Big Ten is not holding a preseason media poll this year.  No matter, the Cleveland Plain Dealer has conducted its own poll on Big Ten football [...]

Throwback Uniforms for the Notre Dame Game

June 11, 2011

Yesterday Michigan revealed their “throwback” uniforms for the September 10th contest against Notre Dame. I put “throwback” in quotes because Michigan never actually wore uniforms that looked like these. While the actual appearance of the uniforms has received mixed reviews, the hype behind them from Adidas et al has created a stir. The uniforms have [...]

Denard: The Anti-Pryor

June 1, 2011

As a Michigan fan, I couldn’t be happier about the latest events at Ohio State.  The Chernobyl style nuclear meltdown occurring in Columbus over the past few weeks has been entertaining to say the least.  I’m not usually one for schadenfreude, but the downfall of an arrogant program and its lying-under-oath leader just feels right. [...]

Denard at 5:1 Odds to Win Heisman

May 22, 2011

The Detroit News reported recently that, according to online sports books, a bet on Denard to win this year’s Heisman Trophy is at 5:1 odds.  The only player to be more favored to win this year is Stanford’s Andrew Luck, who is at 3:1.

Back for 2011

May 22, 2011

Apologies for the long delay… we haven’t posted much on Denard or our beloved Michigan Wolverines since the end of last season.  Needless to say, much has happened with the football program since the Gator Bowl fiasco.  Rich Rod is gone, Hoke-a-Mania is running wild and we survived another cold Michigan winter. While we will [...]

Brady Hoke is Pretty Cool

January 31, 2011

The end of the 2010 season was unpleasant, to say the least, for Michigan football fans. Decisive losses to Wisconsin and Ohio State capped off a tumultuous regular season for our Wolverines. Immediately following the atrocity that was the Gator Bowl against Mississippi State, it was clear that Michigan AD Dave Brandon was not going to keep [...]

Updated: Harbaugh to 49ers

January 3, 2011

Jim Harbaugh has agreed in principle to be the next coach of the San Francisco 49ers.  Too bad for Michigan… I think Harbaugh was by far our best option.

Denard Big Ten MVP

December 10, 2010

Denard Robinson was announced today as the winner of the Chicago Tribune’s Silver Football, making him the Big Ten’s most valuable player in 2010. While the Heisman is not in the cards this year, it is a hugely important event to be recognized as the Big Ten’s MVP. The conference had its fair share of [...]

Thoughts on Mississippi State in Gator Bowl

December 6, 2010

The Notre Dame Effect Michigan will play Mississippi State in the Gator Bowl on New Year’s Day.  This bowl marks the first time that Michigan has played in a bowl game under Coach Rich Rodriguez.  All things considered, this is actually a great landing spot for the Wolverines.  At 7-5 and with a losing conference [...]

Are We Watching a Video Game?

September 13, 2010

Denard Robinson has electrified college football and his Michigan teammates with an incredible beginning to the season.  National Player of the Week for the first two weeks of the college football season, Denard racked up 502 total yards while leading his team to victory against Notre Dame this past Saturday.  His stats are both eye-popping. [...]

Like Moses in the Desert

September 14, 2010

Michigan football is on the rise again.  The last two years have been brutal.  For die hard Michigan fans, 2008 and 2009 were punch-in-the-gut, can’t-sleep-on-Saturday-nights brutal.  I still have nightmares from starting freshmen Steven Threet and Nick Sheridan in 2008.  We closed out our season last year by losing the last 7 of 8 games.  It has [...]

Book It: Michigan Wins 10 Games in 2010

September 15, 2010

You heard it here a lot sooner than you will hear it most places: Michigan football will win ten games this season.  We will qualify for a New Year’s Day bowl.  We will defeat a top 10 opponent at some point this season.  Most importantly,  we will once again set the bar of excellence back to the lofty heights where [...]

Denard’s Injury Against Bowling Green

September 26, 2010

The entire Michigan fan base gasped collectively in the first quarter of yesterday’s game against Bowling Green when Denard Robinson came up injured after a long run from scrimmage.  Landing on his left knee awkwardly on a tackle out of bounds, it appeared that his injury could have been pretty severe.  We are happy to [...]

Michigan Has the Best Offense in College Football

September 26, 2010

Michigan has the best offense in college football.  Both objectively and subjectively, the Wolverines have been transformed into an offensive threat that has never before been seen in Ann Arbor.  After two rebuilding seasons under Coach Rich Rodriguez, the team’s offensive firepower is finally starting to live up to the hype.  Opposing coaches from around [...]

Indiana Got Denarded

October 4, 2010

Michigan had a big win Saturday against Indiana.  Yes, I can already hear the comments about Indiana not being a great team.  Yes, our defense looked horrible at times.  Yes, it took all that we had to mount a last minute Denard led drive to conquer the Hoosiers.  In spite of all this, I couldn’t [...]

Wolverines are the Lakers, Spartans are the Clippers

October 4, 2010

Recently, a friend in California asked me to describe the difference between Michigan football and Michigan State football.  He asked: “Aren’t the two programs kinda the same?  I always thought they were pretty similar.”  To which I responded an emphatic “NO.”  Michigan football and Michigan State football are not the same, and in fact, not [...]

Reflections from the Michigan State Game

October 12, 2010

Losing is Not Fun Despite our predictions here at Denardheisman.com for a Michigan victory this past Saturday, our worst fears were realized with a Michigan State win.  The Spartans have now won three in a row in the series against Michigan.  It sucks to lose and it was a tough game to watch.  While Michigan [...]

Iowa Game is Huge for Michigan

October 13, 2010

Michigan will face the Iowa Hawkeyes in Ann Arbor on Saturday in what is shaping up to be an incredibly important game for the Wolverines.  Both collectively for the Michigan football program and individually for a number of key people within it, winning the Iowa game is massively important. The Program Michigan needs this win [...]

Give Coach Rod Through 2011

November 1, 2010

In what was a horrifying pre-Halloween performance,  Michigan surrendered forty one points on Saturday night to Penn State.  Starting at quarterback for the Nittany Lions was former walk on Matt McGloin, a guy who wouldn’t have played this year for a lot of FCS teams. Michigan fans are understandably upset in what was the year’s [...]

Michigan’s Big Win Over Illinois

November 8, 2010

Beating Illinois Never Felt So Good Michigan’s triple overtime 67-65 victory over Illinois on Saturday was thrilling, to say the least.  This was the highest scoring game in which Michigan has ever played.  Overcoming five (five?) turnovers and an injury to Denard Robinson in the third quarter, the Wolverines somehow found a way to win. [...]

Denard Will Break Rushing Record

November 15, 2010

Denard Robinson is within striking distance of breaking the all time record for quarterback rushing in a single season. Currently Denard has 1,417 yards rushing.  Quarterback Beau Morgan of Air Force holds the FBS record with 1,494 yards, set in 1996. Denard has two games remaining (Wisconsin and Ohio State) to rush for 78 yards [...]

Bret Bielema is a Douche

November 18, 2010

So you may not have heard yet, but Wisconsin beat Indiana last week 83-20.  No, not in women’s basketball.  In football. In what has traditionally been a relatively classy program, Wisconsin chose to run up the score last week on the Hoosiers in a style that was uncharacteristically douchey.  These are not the days of [...]

No Heisman for Denard

November 30, 2010

Denard Robinson is not going to win the Heisman Trophy in 2010.  A combination of factors, both specific to Denard and in general about the Michigan football program, can explain why he won’t be receiving the award this year.  Michigan finished the season 7-5 and with a losing record in the Big Ten.  Michigan’s record [...]
